class 2 readings

Wow!!!! I am totally on Web 2.0 overload!!!! There is so much information, sites, blogs, and social networking to visit and learn about. While reading these articles, I did start by signing up for myspace and I will probably sign up on Google Doc this weekend. The Read Write Web is an amazing site to visit for information on education, businesses, and fun filled videos on YouTube. I found myself totally absorb in watching video after video until I realized. OPPS!!!! I have been on YouTube for an hour now, and I still have not visited everything on that site. Before signing up to get my master in Educational Technology, I thought I knew a lot about the web, computers, networking and technology. Boy!!!! I was SO wrong, but now I am learning so much and I have so much more to learn about. Every day, we (as teachers) think ok!, I am catching up with technology and then something brand new comes about that’s even more interesting, exciting and helpful in the classroom. Web 2.0 is the new way teachers get to meet and discuss classroom topics and/or activities without meeting face to face. After a long rough day in the classroom, teachers can simply go home and meet with core workers on a common blog. Blogs can be used by your fellow peers or set up blogging sites for your students to have a healthy discussion with other classmates. Blogs can also help students with research projects without bugging the parents that they have to meet their group for a class project. The students can simply log on to a pre-set blog and exchange information and start creating their report. Social networking is also a very interesting part of Web 2.0. You can meet someone who has a common interest such as reading books and starting a book discussion. With all that I learning through my master’s program, my goal is to find a position at a school or business where I can use Web 2.0 on a daily bases so that it stays fresh in my mind.
